Nash was somewhat back on form for this album, a busted Crosby/Nash project that he salvaged.
The focus is the environment and the tone is preachy in the extreme — one reason it was a major
turn-off to critics in the midst of the punk boom — but some of the melodies are engaging and
occasionally surprising, and the passion with which Nash approaches his material almost makes
it work, though it probably would've come out better had Crosby been able to contribute to his
part of the album. (Bruce Eder)
