In the late '80s, Mike Tramp's band White Lion was at the top of hard rock charts. They sold millions of
records and toured the world several times. However, with the explosion of the grunge scene,
Tramp found his glory days numbered. After the breakup of White Lion, he formed Freak of Nature,
who put out two albums to no critical acclaim. Tramp came back though with three solo albums,
Capricorn (1998), Remembering White Lion (2001) and Recovering the wasted years (2002).
More to life than this (spring 2003) is his fourth solo album, produced by Mike and recorded
and mixed by Flemming Rassmussen.
Steve Lukather: "Mike is an old friend from the OLD days, end of 80's in LA. Nice cat, great
voice and it took me less than 1/2 hour to do 2 songs. Nice old time rock and
roll stuff. Great cat! I was in Denmark and Ulf from Ulftone, an old friend, called and asked if I would come in a blow a solo for Mike. I had some time so I said yes. I hope it is going well for him.
" Lukather plays guitar on I won't let go and the yet unreleased bonus
song Do it while you can.
Mike Tramp: "By the time we were doing the recording sessions in Kopenhagen (Denmark), Toto played in
Kopenhagen too. We got the idea to call Steve Lukather and just ask him to play on the album. I
knew him from the White Lion era, and we didn't met during the last ten years. But Luke immediately
said "okay, let's do it." He only asked us to catch him at the hotel and bring him to the studio. He picked up
my guitar and he played two of the coolest solos. One made it to the album and we'll use the other one
for a future bonus track."
